Kuruman is home to the EL DORADO HOTEL, with 73 rooms to offer. Easy to reach on the N4 and in a quiet part of town. We believe in a family friendly establishment, so please don’t leave your children at home.
Kuruman, because of its abundant supply of water, is known as the ‘Oasis of the Kalahari’. Enclosed in a valley, this verdant garden town is very removed from the arid surroundings of the semi-desert. Kuruman is the principle town of the Kalahari and is blessed with a permanent source of water. The fountain commonly known as THE EYE, delivers 20 million liters of crystal clear water daily. This is the largest natural fountain in the Southern Hemisphere.
The surrounding mining and agricultural activities (cattle, sheep, goats and game) support the town’s economy. Various minerals are mined in the area e.g. iron ore, manganese ore and tiger eye.
The town, with its dramatic contrasts, is always a pleasant surprise to the tourists and a source of pride to residents.
